Book description
Boswell - the Applause of the Jury covers the years 1782-1785. The journal documents Boswell's legal work, including his defense of the sheep-stealer John Reid, and his political activities surrounding his Letter to the People of Scotland. During this period, his father, Lord Auchinleck, dies, and Boswell assumes the lairdship of Auchinleck. The volume concludes with his final meetings with Samuel Johnson, his account of Johnson's death in December 1784, and the publication of his Tour to the Hebrides.
