Frances Floyer
Daughter of Charles Floyer (ca. 1713-1766), Governor of Madras (1747-1750), and Mary Berriman. Married (1770) to John Erskine, with whom she had at least 9 children. Cousin of Norton Nicholls, her father being the brother of Nicholls' mother, Jane.
Boswell at some time briefly considered her as a possible candidate for marriage (cf. letter to Temple of September 25, 1763). He had met her a few months earlier in London.
Unless otherwise noted, the source for a dated quotation of Boswell's is generally the corresponding volume of the Yale Trade Editions of Boswell's journals.
