Carl Friedrich Hübner
Sometime clerk (Geheimer Kanzellist) in the Chancery Court, Berlin (mid-1760s).1 During Boswell's stay in Berlin in 1764, he lived in the house of a widow in Scharrenstrasse, close to Boswell's own lodgings.2
Boswell went in a coach with Hübner to Charlottenburg on July 21, 1764. He described him as "a genteel, even-tempered, fine fellow, much at ease." On July 26, Boswell went with Hübner and F. L. Kircheisen to the Garden of Corsica.
Unless otherwise noted, the source for a dated quotation of Boswell's is generally the corresponding volume of the Yale Trade Editions of Boswell's journals.
