Charles Ryskamp, former professor of literature at Princeton, director of the Morgan Library and later of the Frick Collection died Friday, March 26 2010 at the age of 81.
Better known in scholarly circles for his extensive studies of William Cowper, and not to be considered one of the major Boswellian scholars, Ryskamp nevertheless co-edited one of the volumes, Boswell: The Ominous Years (1774-1776), in the Yale trade edition series of Boswell's journals, together with Frederick Pottle. At the time of his death he was one of few surviving former editors of the trade editions.
