Actress. Daughter of James Hooper. Married to James Dance with whom she had one son, William Dance.
Life with Boswell:
Boswell probably had an affair with her in 1761-62, which may have been occasionally renewed following her husband's death in 1774. He came to see her and her son as the first thing when he returned to Edinburgh from his Harvest Jaunt, on October 26, 1762, describing her as "a smart, clever, good-humoured created, and a very lively actress". He visited her several times before he left Edinburgh for London on November 15 of that year.
