Menie Buchanan
Boswell mentions sitting in a box in the theatre of Edinburgh with Buchanan on November 10, 1762. He writes that "we were glad to see each other again". She doesn't seem to appear anywhere else in his journals.
She may be the Menie Buchanan who was listed as a female member of the Glasgow Hodge Podge Club from which she was stricken for being guilty of matrimony in 1763.1
1Mentioned in Carr, Rosalind (2008) Gender, national identity and political agency in eighteenth-century Scotland, pp. 295-296
Unless otherwise noted, the source for a dated quotation of Boswell's is generally the corresponding volume of the Yale Trade Editions of Boswell's journals.
