“A member of a French noble family who had settled in Saxony”.1 In 1764 in Dresden she married Emerich de Vattel, with whom she had a son in January 1765

Boswell was introduced to her by her husband on October 9, 1764. He described her as “a handsome young Polish lady”. She was actually of French descendants.
