Youngest daughter of Patrick Agnew (d. 1758), 2nd of Dalreagle, and Mary Stewart. Sister of Alexander Agnew.

Boswell met her at Kirroughtrie on October 2, 1762, describing her as "a neat, well-behaved girl".
