Written by the Scottish novelist Andrew Neil MacLeod, The Fall of the House of Thomas Weir is the first novel in "The Casebook of Johnson and Boswell", a historical mystery and supernatural fiction series casting Dr. Samuel Johnson and James Boswell as investigators in eighteenth-century Scotland.

Set in Edinburgh in 1773, the novel draws on local folklore surrounding the seventeenth-century covenanter and alleged warlock Major Thomas Weir (executed in 1670), following Johnson and Boswell as they investigate a series of occult mysteries beneath Edinburgh's Old Town. It was followed in 2022 by a second volume, The Stone of Destiny.

A pre-publication interview with the author titled "No internet or hot water inspired author to pen his first novel" was published in the Daily Record on June 22, 2021.
