Son of Maurits Lodewijk II van Nassau-LaLecq (1670-1740) and Elisabeth Wilhelmina van Nassau-Odijk (1671-1729). Married firstly (1739) to Adrienne Marguerite Huguetan (1701-1752) and secondly (1753) to Johanna Gevaerts.

Although Boswell had known the Count's much younger wife for at least a month, he apparently wasn't introduced to the Count until December 4, 1763.
