Biography
Educated at the Merchiston Castle School and Edinburgh University (M.A. 1953 and L.L.B 1955). Partner (1959-?) of an Edinburgh law firm. He was the son of Eric Buchanan, who in 1937-1938 acted as Ralph Isham's Edinburgh solicitor in a case concerning the rights to a bulk of the Boswell papers which had recently been discovered at Fettercairn House.
