Biography
Daughter of Frederick III and Luise Dorothea of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, and sister of Ernst II Ludwig.
At some point shortly before October 1764, she had "just been dissuaded from accepting a proposal from the recently widowed Duke d'Orléans because Frederick II of Prussia had objected to her converting to Catholicism, as her marriage to a French prince would have required".1

Life with Boswell
During his visit to the court of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg on October 17, 1764, Boswell described the princess as "ugly, but easy & comical".
