Biography: 

German jurist and sometime conseiller de guerre (member of the Prussian War-Council). In 1772 he became vice-president of the Justitzkollegium in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Life with Boswell: 

Boswell went with the Kircheisens to a party at Behmer's on July 17, 1764. Behmer was the uncle of Mlle. Schartow, a girl who was raised by the Kircheisens as a part of their family. Boswell described him as "a big, gallant Allemand".
