Life with James Boswell

Boswell mentions Cowie in his journal of September 22, 1762. On a hunt, Cowie helped pulling Boswell's horse free from a ditch of thick mud, and Boswell wrote "by the seasonable aid of one of Heron's servants, John Cowie, a judicious active fellow, we had her fairly relieved without her sustaining any damage."
