John Wake. (-) (aka. Captain Wake)

Privateer.

According to Boswell in 1764, "[h]e is a good Prestonpans man, but has been all his life at sea, and during the last war had the King of Prussia's commission to go out with a privateer. He took some Swedish ships. He cannot get the prize-money, having carried them into the port of [Cagliari], where they are retained. He has been two years at Berlin, pleading before a court of justice, in order to recover them."

Life with James Boswell:

Boswell drank punch at Wake's lodgings in Berlin on July 7, 1764, and on September 7, had dinner with him and Alexander Burnett. They met on September 11 and 12 as well.
