John Hume (bef. 1711-)

Biography

John Hume. (bef. 1711-) (aka. of Ninewells; John Home)

Son of Joseph Hume of Ninewells (1680-1713) and Catherine Falconer (b. 1683). Brother of David Hume. Married (1751) to Agnes Carre, which whom he had at least two children, David Hume (1757-1838), and Katharine Hume.

Life with James Boswell:

Boswell met him at Kames on October 20, 1762, describing him as "a sensible good man, who reads more than usual. He has an anxiety of temper which hurts him. Very different from his brother."
