Biography

William Gordon. (bef. 1750-1772) (aka. Lord Kenmure, 9th Viscount Kenmure)

9th Viscount Kenmure by courtesey. Son of John Gordon, 8th Viscount (by courtesey) Kenmure, and Frances Mackenzie. He inherited the attainted title of Viscount from his father in 1769, but died just a few years later, at Minorca, on February 7, 1772, probably no older than 27-28. Captain in the Royal Scots regiment of foot. He was succeeded by his brother John Gordon.

Life with James Boswell:

James Boswell met William Gordon at Kenmure House during his stay there from 16/9-18/9, 1762. He described Gordon as "a heavy boy [...] much inferior in parts to John [his brother]." (Harvest, 180962)
