BiographyWilliam McGhie. (-) (aka. Secretary to the Hunters) Son of John McGhie of Balmaghie and Isabel Gordon.1 Cloth-merchant in Edinburgh and Secretary to The Society of Hunters (a racing club). Boswell met him at Lord Kenmure's on 16/9-1762.
Note 1: Boswell states that McGhie was a cousin of Lord Kenmure's. Lord Kenmure's father had a sister, Isabel, who married a John McGhie of Balmaghie. Note 2: According to Boswell (Harvest, 160962)
