BiographyGeorge Stewart. (1750-1827) (aka. 5th Bart of Grandtully) Son of John Stewart (d. 1797), 4th of Grandtully, and Clementina Stewart. Married (1792) to Catherine Drummond, dau of John Drummond of Logie Almond, with whom he had at least 6 children. Nephew to Archibald James Edward Steuart, despite them being almost of the same age. He became 5th Bart of Grandtully upon the death of his father. George Stewart attended Westminster School from ca. 1762. He continued on to Oxford from where he received his MA in 1777. He became and advocate in 1776 when he was admitted to Lincoln's Inn.1 Life with James Boswell:
In LJ22/05-63 Boswell mentions Andrew Douglas having a weekly dinner for Captain Blair, young Douglas of Douglas, young Steuart nephew to Douglas, and their own son [George Douglas] (all Westminster pupils). External links:
