BiographyPhillip Skene. (-1788) (aka. 3rd of Pitlour) 3rd of Pitlour, son of David Skene of Pitlour and Jean Douglas of Strathendry (d. 1783). Brother of Robert Skene. Cousin (on his mother's side) of philosopher and economist Adam Smith. He died unmarried, having reached the rank of General. Life with James Boswell:

Disambiguity Two other high-ranking army officers named Philip Skene lived in the last half of the 18th century. A lieutenant of the 72nd foot who died in 1774 and another one who was active (on the British side) in the American revolution and who died in 1810. (Link)
