Biography

Isabella Schaw. (-) (aka. Isabella Thomson)

(a.k.a. Isabella Thomson). Daughter 0f David Thomson. Married (28/11-1762 in Edinburgh) to Capt. Frederik Bridges Schaw. "[A] woman of a good deal of knowledge, pretty good sense, much vivacity, and a aprodigious flow of words". (LJ150363)

Life with James Boswell:

Boswell had apparently been in love with her at some time in 1762 (probably in Edinburgh). He met with her again in London on 15/3-63, and they had tea together in London on 20/3-63. Later on, in Edinburgh in the 1770s, Boswell and the Schaws seems to have moved in the same circles and they met occasionally.
