Parravicini Mawhood (1721-)

Biography

Parravicini Mawhood. (1721-) (aka. Captain Maud)

Son of tea merchant Collett Mawhood (d. 1757/8) and Rebecca Toriano (d. 1762). He became a cornet in the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards in 1751, a lieutenant in 1754 and a captain in 1759. He retired from active duty in November 1764.

On a sidenote, Collett Mawhood was apparently the victim of a recorded robbery on 28/8-1721 (Link).

Life with James Boswell:

Boswell mentions meeting a Captain Maud on December 28, 1762 at the Sheridan's. LJ identifies Capt. Maud as Captain Parravicini Mawhood (LJ281262, n. 8).
